Team Lois - fundraising for a cure
TEAM LOIS is once again getting together to participate for the 4th time in the annual RUN2CURE Neuroblastoma event.
Please join us or make a donation to the cause that is close to our hearts and see if we can find a cure once and for all, so no child will have to suffer through this horrendous disease. We are seeking participants to join us again to make this year bigger than last year and have set a goal for fundraising to hopefully outraise last year's total to support Neuroblastoma research. Run2Cure is a charity fun run and raises funds for the aggressive childhood cancer Neuroblastoma. Please join us to be a part of something special.
Lois' Story
Lois was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma shortly following her 2nd birthday back in 2014. After an intensive treatment protocol lasting almost 2 years which involved Chemotherapy, Stem cell transplant, Radiation Therapy, Tumor removal and Immunotherapy, Lois began her recovery from this cruel disease. Neuroblastoma is an extremely aggressive form of Childhood cancer which has an estimated long term survival rate of around 50%. Lois was very lucky in her response to treatment but many others are not so lucky and funding for Neuroblastoma research is very limited. Your help in raising money for this worthy cause will go a long way and will help many families hopefully avoid facing the same challenges we have over the journey.
About Neuroblastoma
Neuroblastoma is a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body. Most commonly it arises in and around the adrenal gland. It most commonly affects children age 5 and younger. It is unclear what causes neuroblastoma in children. Because it is a rare cancer with a chance of 1:100,000, the funding for research is very limited. The treatment has for Neuroblastoma has many long term side effects including hearing problems, lung and heart problems, problems to the endocrine system and the risk of developing a secondary cancer.
We have set ourselves a challenge for 2024 and are taking part in Run2Cure Neuroblastoma so we can be part of changing the cause of Neuroblastoma.
So in addition to our own goal, we want to make a difference to the young children affected. If you are able to make a donation, be it a few dollars or more, we would be very grateful.
